Kara Brown is the Design Director for Metro Publishing & Boulevards New Media. Metro Newspapers, a Silicon Valley-based company, is the leading publisher of alternative newsweeklies in the San Francisco Bay Area. Its sister company, Boulevards New Media, is a network of city guide websites. It is comprised of over 100 properties such as LosAngeles.com, Seattle.com, SanFrancisco.com, Philadelphia.com Denver.com, Houston.com, WashingtonDC.com, and complementary digital media sites like MovieTimes.com and SFStation.com. Kara is responsible for the overall design, production and art direction of all vehicles of communication for both companies. Prior to her current position, Kara co-founded the weekly arts & culture publication, Urbanview, in Oakland. Before that she was the Senior Designer at Citrus Design Group working on books, packaging, marketing, publications, promotional products, and clothing for EA sports, Excite, Nike, Planned Parenthood, the San Francisco Zoo, and United Media. Kara also served on the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Graphic Arts as Media Publisher for three years.
